Croatian Open Championships: Fabiola Molina Sets South American Record in Women’s 100 Back

DUBROVNIK, Croatia, July 13. BRAZIL's Fabiola Molina lower her South American record in the women's 100 back with a time of 1:00.79 at the Croatian Open Championships. Sanja Jovanovic finished second in 1:01.15, while Anja Carman placed third in 1:02.39.

The men's 100 back proved to be exciting with Gordan Kozulj and Ante Cvitkovic tying with matching 55.56s. Marko Strahija wound up third in 55.57.

The Anjas had it in the women's 400 free. Slovenia's Anja Klinar won in 4:14.10, while Anja Trisic took third in 4:25.18. Nataliya Khudyakova split the difference with a time of 4:22.20.

Slovenia's Luka Turk claimed the men's 400 free with a time of 3:59.90, while Boris Loncaric (4:03.99) and Josip Soldo (4:09.82) earned second and third, respectively.

In the women's 50 free, Poland's Agata Korc touched first in 25.45, while Brazil's Flavia Cazziolato finished second in 25.79. Serbia's Miroslava Najdanovski rounded out the top three in 25.88.

The men's splash-and-dash featured George Bovell of Trinidad and Tobago winning in 22.17. Duje Draganja took second in 22.47, while Bruno Barbic placed third in 22.85.

The 50 breast events closed down the night. Smiljana Marinovic won the women's race in 33.10 with Gabrijela Korac (33.81) and Maja Pavlovic (34.43) taking second and third, while Slovenia's Damir Dugonjic just missed Matjaz Markic's national record of 27.72 with a 27.79. Compatriot Emil Tahirovic took second in 27.94, while Iran's Mohammad Alirezaie touched third in 27.95.
