Scottish National Open Championships: French Sprinters Put on Show

GLASGOW, Scotland, June 28. WITH the U.S. just a day away from its Olympic Trials, the French sprinters continued to demonstrate their meteoric rise in the sport while at the Scottish National Open Championships.

Alain Bernard topped the men's 50 free to lead a French sweep when he finished the splash-and-dash in 21.87. Amaury Leveaux, who quite possibly is the most versatile pure sprinter in the sport and can contend up into the 200 free range, placed second in 22.47. Boris Steimetz took third in 23.10.

Hannah Miley collected another victory, this time with a 2:14.81 in the women's 200 IM, while Sally Wood (2:19.63) and Eloise Barber (2:21.42) rounded out the top three.

Miley then finished second to Camille Muffat in the women's 400 free, 4:06.68 to 4:10.43, while Sophie Huber placed third in 4:11.08.
