Russian Nationals: Meet Comes to End

MOSCOW, Russia, June 8. THE final day of swimming at the Russian Nationals held in Moscow came to a close with swimming in the women's 200 fly, men's 100 free and men's 200 breast.

Irina Bespalova captured the women's 200 fly in 2:11.29, downing Yana Martynova's second-place time of 2:14.17.

Meanwhile, Evgeny Lagunov took a run at Alexander Popov's Russian record of 48.21 set well before the emergence of the high tech swimsuits in 1994. Lagunov, however, did not have enough as he clocked a time of 48.26.

In the men's 200 breast, Igor Zinovev touched out Grigory Falko, 2:13.46 to 2:13.53.
