America’s Cup Update

THOUSAND OAKS, California, May 23. THE wins continue to come for Team USA as they again took two on the fourth night of the America's Cup at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, CA. In the first game of the evening USA Blue moved past the Premier League All-Stars 6-3 in a low scoring affair. In the second game USA Red took it to Canada winning 13-4. All four teams will be back in action on Saturday evening for the final day of action starting at 4:00pm

In the first game the Premier League All-Stars got off to the quick start with a 1-0 lead courtesy of a Wolf Wigo goal but USA Blue would quickly tie the game and then move ahead 2-1 on a Tim Hutten goal. They would expand the lead to 4-2 at halftime and then build into 6-3 after three quarters. The fourth quarter would see no scoring on either side as USA Blue hung on for the three goal victory. Hutten led the way on offense scoring three goals while Brandon Brooks went the whole way in net.

As for the nightcap USA Red was firing on all cylinders from the start as they led 3-1 after the first quarter. In the second quarter the lead kept growing as they went up 6-1 thanks to goals by Rick Merlo, Layne Beaubien, and Jeff Powers. The second half was more of the same with the lead ballooning to 10-3 after the third quarter as John Mann added the second of his three goals. Finally in the fourth USA Red put it away going up 13-4 which served as the final score. Chay Lapin did the job in net turning aside eight shots through four quarters.
