Industry News: Before You Take Your Marks – Read This Story

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 7. DO you record your swim meet results on a scrap of paper or in a notebook? Do you have trouble remembering your best times and goals? Would you like to be able to analyze and graph your progress?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions then the services provided by TakeYourMarks.com may be just what you need.

TakeYourMarks.com has been created specifically for competitive swimmers, and helps them perform many routine but important tasks such as recording meet results, maintaining best times, setting goals, and graphing results over time. Thousands of swimmers are already using TakeYourMarks.com to administer and analyze their meet results and to help them achieve their swimming goals.

The owner and developer of TakeYourMarks.com, Darryn Salt, says he originally decided to build an Internet-based system when he saw all the various methods being used by the swimmers at his children's swimming club to record meet results.

Soon the swimmers at the club were throwing away their notepads and Excel spreadsheets as they started to use TakeYourMarks.com instead.

"I could see there was a need for an online service for swimmers and so using my background in computing, I developed TakeYourMarks.com." Salt said. "At the time, I had no idea how popular it would become and before long I had requests to add more and more services to the website".

During the five years that TakeYourMarks.comhas been up and running, Salt has received many words of gratitude from the parents of young swimmers that appreciate the ease of maintaining their children's meet results using the website.

"I know from first-hand experience that the life of a swimming family can be very hectic and it makes me happy knowing that TakeYourMarks.com is helping them in some way with the great sport of competitive swimming," Salt said.

TakeYourMarks.com also is the official repository for all New Zealand meet results. Salt developed the online searchable database, which has been operational for five years. It allows anyone to search for a specific swimmer's results and for best times for any event. Salt continues to work closely with Swimming New Zealand (SNZ) to ensure the correctness and completeness of the database and SNZ uses the database to verify entries for national-level meets.

The vision for the future of TakeYourMarks.com is to provide more online services to individual swimmers, to clubs and teams, and to national swimming organizations around the world. Basically, TakeYourMarks.com wants to do what it can to help swimmers to achieve their goals.
