Swimming Canada Announces World Youth Games Roster

OTTAWA, Canada, May 7. SWIMMING Canada officially announced its team for the 2nd FINA World Youth Championships. The 24-member team will travel to Monterrey, Mexico to compete against the world's best youth swimmers from July 8-13.

The FINA Youth Championships provides young swimmers an opportunity to compete in a friendly and inter-cultural environment, sharing their dreams with other young swimmers from around the world and getting to know future World and Olympic Medalists before they reach the top.

"Our youth development program is showing great progress and allowing these young athletes to compete on the international stage will give them valuable experience needed to compete at major games," said Pierre Lafontaine, CEO/National Coach for Swimming Canada.

Many of Canada's World Youth Swim Team members have also qualified for Canada's Tri-Nations Cup team that will compete against Great Britain and France in Québec City this August. Notably, one of Canada's youngest Beijing-bound Olympian, Linsday Seemann of Newmarket, will test the waters in Monterry, before leaving for the Olympics.

Special thanks to Swimming Canada for contributing this report.
