Gabriella Silva Produces Breakthrough Performance

SAO PAULO, Brazil, March 13. COMPETING in the preliminaries of the South American Championships, Gabriella Silva became the first woman from that continent to crack the one-minute barrier in the 100-meter butterfly on Thursday. Silva, who already owned the continental record, checked in with a time of 59.79. Last summer, Silva earned the bronze medal at the Pan American Championships.
