USA Swimming Sectionals, Mission Viejo: Final Session Features Distance Events

MISSION VIEJO, California, March 9. THE final night of swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Mission Viejo, Calif., featured the 1500 freestyles – the domain of the host club.

Chloe Sutton, 16, of Mission Viejo posted a strong metric mile as she clocked a time of 16:37.15 to win the women's 1500 free. Meanwhile, her teammate Chad La Tourette dominated the men's 1500 free with a time of 15:56.42.

In the 100 back events, Ashley Vrieze of DeAnza Cupertino won the women's race in 1:04.95, while Andrew Saeta snagged the men's heat in 59.19.

Kasey Carlson, 16, of Terrapins snatched the women's 100 breast title in 1:10.66, while Cheyne Bloch of Swim Pasadena pocketed the men's 100 breast title in 1:04.47.

In the 100 fly, Ursi Dailey, 17, of Fog City hit the wall in 1:01.90 to win the women's race, while Tom Zaferes of Cabrillo took the men's title in 56.59.
