Swedish Grand Prix, Uppsala: Petra Granlund Sets Swedish Records in 200 Fly

UPPSALA, Sweden, March 9. IN the final session of long course swimming at the Swedish Grand Prix held in Uppsala, Petra Granlund lowered her Swedish record in the 200 fly.

Granlund obliterated her national record time of 2:12.79 set in 2005 as she dropped a 2:11.52 on the cheering fans in Uppsala. Granlund actually trailed Hungary's Beatrix Boulsevicz, 1:02.94 to 1:03.06, at the 100-meter mark, but had way too much back end speed as the Hungarian took second in 2:12.65.

In other women's action, Marlene Veldhuis in the 100 free (54.16), Rebecca Ejdervik in the 50 breast (32.27), Stina Gardell in the 400 IM (4:54.42), Hinkelien Schreuder in the 100 back (1:04.02), Rebecka Ekelund in the 400 free (4:29.33), Mirna Jukic in the 200 breast (2:27.26) and Anna-Karin Kammerling in the 50 fly (26.88) all walked away with victories.

The men also had their turn as Christoffer Wikstrom in the 200 free (1:51.11), Martin Gustafsson in the 100 breast (1:03.06), Simon Sjodin in the 100 fly (53.96), Matt Clay in the 50 back (25.64), Dinko Jukic in the 200 IM (2:04.57), Stefan Nystrand in the 50 free (22.32), Linus Junefelt in the 800 free (8:37.87) and Andy Hodgson in the 200 back (2:03.85) all captured titles in their respective events.
