Des Moines Swimming Federation Relay Takes Down 19-Year-Old U.S. National Age Group Record

IOWA CITY, Iowa, March 3. THIS weekend, a team from the Des Moines Swimming Federation broke the girls 17-18 200-yard freestyle relay U.S. National Age Group record at the 2008 Iowa Short Course Championships held at the University of Iowa.

The team of Alexa Mehesan, Lisa Nathanson, Danielle Harris and Katie Kubat stopped the clock in 1:35.29. Remarkably, none of the swimmers on the team were alive when the record was set.

The Wilton Y Wahoos 1989 team of Robin Lewis, Catherine Haight, Lauren Curtis and Janel Jorgensen set the previous record at 1:35.60.
