French Cup, Lyon: Aurore Mongel Lowers French National 200 Fly Record

LYON, France, February 23. IN the second day of competition at the French Cup held in Lyon, France, Aurore Mongel dipped into the 2:08 range in the 200 fly to lower her own long course national standard.

Mongel clocked a time of 2:08.13 to chop more than a second from her previous best effort of 2:09.21 set at last year's World Championships in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Laure Manaudou checked in with a meet-record time of 4:05.61 to win the 400 free, while Alena Popchanka touched first in the 100 free in 54.91.

Other winners for the women include Hannah Miley in the 200 IM (2:14.42), Kirsty Balfour in the 200 breast (2:27.09) and Stella Boumi in the 100 back (1:04.75).

For the men, Markus Rogan grabbed the 200 back in 1:59.20, while Filippo Magnini hit the wall in 1:50.13 to win the 200 free.

Ioannis Drymonakos snared the 400 IM title in 4:20.17, while Loris Facci (100 breast: 1:02.02) and Lorenzo Benatti (100 fly: 54.11) each won titles as well.
