Tennessee vs. Georgia

ATHENS, Georgia, January 21. THE Georgia swimming and diving teams concluded the dual-meet portion of their home schedule by sweeping Tennessee on Saturday at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The ninth-ranked Bulldogs posted a 165-135 victory over the No. 21 Volunteers, while the No. 1 Lady Bulldogs defeated the No. 14 Lady Vols 169-131 on Senior Day.

"It was really a job well done by our young men and young ladies today," Georgia coach Jack Bauerle said. "Neither meet was decided until the latter stages, so we had to stay sharp and stay tough. I am very proud of the efforts. We've still got some areas that need improving, but all in all, it was a good day for our teams."

The Bulldogs improved to 5-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the SEC, and the Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-1 and 4-0. The Lady Bulldogs also extended their school record with their 78th consecutive victory at Gabrielsen Natatorium. The 400 freestyle relay of Hill, Doug Reynolds, John Simmons and Arnold closed the meet by winning in 2:59.16.
