Michael Scott Named British Swimming Top Coach

LOUGHBOROUGH, England, January 22. ACCORDING to reports out of Great Britain, including an article from BBC Sport, Australian Michael Scott, 51, has been named as the replacement for Bill Sweetenham as the head man in charge of British Swimming.

Scott, a former director of the Australian Institute of Sport, had joined British Swimming as a high performance consultant last October. Now, he has earned the top coaching spot in the organization.

"We're delighted Michael can stay through to the Olympic Games," British Swimming Chief Executive David Sparkes told BBC Sport. "We're all very excited about Michael's blueprint for the future, as it will see a significant change in gear, and this will be unveiled to the British Swimming board in a few weeks. We look forward to continuing to work with Michael in implementing these plans which will be announced in due course."
