Israeli Records Tumble in Kiryat Bialik

KIRYAT BIALIK, Israel, December 30. AT a year-ending meet held in Israel yesterday, four Israeli national records tumbled, while Randall Bal of the United States also enjoyed a strong meet over the short course.

Anna Gostamelski clocked a national record in the women's 200 back with a time of 2:08.79, while Nadav Cochavi also set a standard with a 53.38 in the men's 100 fly. Cochavi, meanwhile, won the 200 fly as well with a time of 1:58.79.

Nastia Kortkov, 17, shot down the women's 100 breast record with a time of 1:10.62, while Yulia Benech, 15, erased the women's 50 breast standard with a 33.05.

Other top Israeli performances came from men as Shay Livnat with wins in the 100 free (49.77) and 400 free (3:49.58), while Jowan Kopti took home the 100 (1:04.62) and 200 (2:18.10) breaststroke events.

Bal also got into the action with three sprint wins. He stopped the clock in 23.03 in the 50 free, while also winning the 50 (24.62) and 100 (52.16) backstroke events.
