Katie Hoff Sets Two American Records at NBAC Christmas Meet

BALTIMORE, Maryland, December 7. JUST a day after Kate Ziegler posted an American record in the women's 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:29.15 at the Tom Dolan Invitational, Katie Hoff returned fire at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club Christmas Invitational with a pair of American standards of her own.

The duo look to be staging another game of one-upsmanship, similar to when they produced some epic battles in Indy this summer at nationals, just this time they are in separate pools and separate states.

First, Hoff clocked a time of 9:10.77 in the women's 1000 freestyle, completely shredding Ziegler's time off 9:21.57 set last year at the Tom Dolan Invite.

The following are Hoff's splits from the incredibly fast swim:

Ziegler, however, will have a chance to counter with her own 1000 freestyle swim at the Tom Dolan Invite this week.

Hoff followed that impressive swim with her second national record, this time when she punched the wall in 1:53.77, which nipped Maggie Bowen's 2002 record of 1:53.91.
