World Masters Championships Begin

By Michael Collins

Munich, Germany – The World Masters Swimming Championships began today in possibly the largest Masters meet of all time. Unconfirmed reports are that 6,700 competitors will participate in the meet.

Over 200 swimmers from the United States are competing, with the largest group from St. Peterberg Masters in Florida, and The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Three events were contested on the first day. The 200 IM, 50 Fly, and 100 Free. The meet began at 8am and finished at 10:35pm.

Unfortunately the German meet hosts seem somewhat overwhelmed and not entirely well organized, so results were not available for posting yet, but should be up soon.
