Missouri Men’s State High School Championships

ST. PETERS, Missouri, November 21. ROCKHURST rolled over the competition at the Missouri Men's State High School Championships, winning the team title with 313 points.

Blue Springs placed second overall with 221 points while Rock Bridge edged out Kickapoo for third with 156 points.

T.J. Auner of Greenwood mined gold in both of his individual events. He touched first in the 100 butterfly, breaking the 50-second barrier with a 49.67, and he also took the top spot in the 100 backstroke (50.18)

Hazelwood West senior Ben Solari used his breaststroke talents to propel him to two individual victories as well. Solari split a 32.00 50 breaststroke in his 200 IM en route to a 1:54.41 victory, and he also took the top honor in the 100 breaststroke (57.76).

Ethan Rose of Park Hill South had two nail-bitingly close races, but he emerged victorious in each. He catapulted past Blue Springs' Zach Bolin on the last 50 of the 200 freestyle, edging Bolin by .16 with a 1:41.30 time. Rose utilized a strong back half in his 100 freestyle to eke out Matt Maurer of Kickapoo with a state-title time of 46.96.

David Bonuchi of Hickman placed first in the diving competition with a 484.70 score. Chris Kelly of Kirkwood garnered the silver-medal honors with a 445.60 score while Ford McLiney of Rockhurst took the bronze (442.10).
