Glasgow Gets Call for 2014 Commonwealth Games

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, November 13. THE 2014 edition of the Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland. That city beat out Abuja, Nigeria, the only other candidate to host the Games, by a vote of 47-24. Halifax was a contender to host earlier this year, but withdrew its bid. The last time that Scotland held the Commonwealth Games was in 1986, when the festivities took place in Edinburgh. The Games also took place in Edinburgh in 1970. The 2010 version will be held in New Delhi.
