UConn vs. Army

WEST POINT, New York, November 10. THE University of Connecticut swimming and diving team's swept Army on Saturday afternoon at West Point. The men won by a score of 161-139. The women defeated the Black Knights by a score of 161.5-124.5.

The women improve to a record of 4-2 overall. The men move to 4-0 on the season.

Multiple event winners for the Huskies were Alex Davidson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec), Krystalynn Kempton (Glen Head, N.Y.), Chris Ferreira (Madison, Conn.) and Adrian Astiz (Bethesda, Md.).

Davidson was the top finisher in the 100 and 200 backstroke, clocking in at 51.82 in the 100 and 1:52.65 in the 200.

Astiz led the butterfly events. In the 100 he finished with a time of 51.05, while in the 200 he timed in at 1:54.99.

Ferreira captured the 50 and 100 freestyle events. He swam the 50 free in a time of 21.50, while taking the 100 free with a time of 46.98.

Kempton was the top woman in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She hit the wall in the 100 breaststoke with a time of 1:08.78. In the 200 breast she had a time of 2:27.50.

Also picking up wins for the Huskies were Rachel Harrison (Holliston, Mass.), Emily Karel (Bethesda, Md.), Carlyn Lungmus (Sarasota, Fla.), Jordan Zarin (Rockville, Md.), Lisa Shelps (Quakertown, Pa.), Cassie Peterson (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.) and Liza Marianni (Cherry Hill, N.J.).

The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams will compete at the Terrapin Cup from Thursday, November 15 through Saturday, November 17th. The Invitational will take place on the campus of the University of Maryland.
