Dave Barra Wins Highland Lakes Challenge

AUSTIN, Texas, October 29. DAVE Barra, from High Falls, N.Y., won the Highland Lakes Challenge over the weekend. The Challenge consisted of five races in the five Upper Highland Lakes over five consecutive days. The race began on Wednesday in Lake Buchanan and finished up in Lake Travis.

Barra finished first overall in the Monster Challenge with a cumulative time of 6:49:27.3. Sandy MacDonald of Gold River, Calif., won Stage 1, a 4.2-mile race in Lake Buchanan on Wednesday.

Dr. Keith Bell, of TeamTexas Masters in Austin, won Stages 2 through 5. Stage 2 in Inks Lake, 2.6 mi. on Thursday; Stage 3 in Lake LBJ, 2.6 mi on Friday: Stage 4 in Lake Marble Falls, 3 mi on Saturday, and 3.6 mi in Lake Travis.

Elise Ragland, also representing Austin's TeamTexas Masters, finished first overall in the Mini-Challenge portion of The Highland Lakes Challenge, which consisted of 800m races in Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, and Lake Travis and 1-mile races in Lake Buchanan and Lake Marble Falls.
