Stony Brook Men Defeat Boston College (164-134) while Women Fall to Boston College (166-134)

STONY BROOK, New York, October 26. MEN'S Swimmer Lukasz Ochamnski (Lodz, Poland) set a school and pool record in the 1000 Yard Freestyle and Julian Acevedo (Long Island City, N.Y.) finished first in the one and three meter dive to help the Stony Brook men's swimming and diving team to a 164-134 win over Boston College on Friday night. The women's swimming and diving team were edged by the Eagles, 166-134.

Stony Brook got off to a good start on the men's side with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Ochamnski would set the record in the next event, finishing more than 40 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

In the eighth event, Omer Ozcan (Brooklyn, N.Y.) touched first in the 100 Yard Backstroke in 55.07. The Seawolves dominated in the 50 Yard Freestyle finishing first, second and third. Alex Kissel (Amityville, N.Y.), Yoni Eldor (South Setauket, N.Y.) and Dan Piastuck (Holbrook, N.Y.) all received points.

Acevedo would dominated event 16, the one meter dive, with a first-place score of 323.40.

Eric Gaffey (Bohemia, N.Y.), Rafael Labour (New York, N.Y.) and Ochmanski led the Seawolves to first place points in later events.

On the women's side, the Seawolves hung tough and picked up first and second place points in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Maja Gudelj (Split, Croatia) and Courtney Teague (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished first and second, respectively.

Gudelj followed up a first-place finish in the 50 Free with first place points in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Jessica Peters (Chicopee, Mass.) kept the women's squad close with a first-place time of 2:34.75 in the 200 Yard Breaststroke.

Adrienne Policht (Mississauga, Ontario) had an impressive showing, finishing first in the 100 Yard Butterfly in 1:02.09. Anastasia Kiryushkina (Moscow, Russia) also picked up first-place points for Stony Brook.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving team are back in action with a dual meet at Fordham on November 7. Event one is scheduled for 11 am.
