Bermuda Round the Sound Open Water Swim Complete

BERMUDA, October 24. MORE than 160 swimmers from 19 different U.S. states and several continents were welcomed to Bermuda for Elan's 17th Annual Bermuda Round the Sound Open Water Swim. Blessed with beautiful skies the days leading up to the event, the swimmers gathered for their customary group swims visiting some of Bermuda's most beautiful beaches and reefs. Bermudian swimmer Mike Cash was swim tour guide extraordinaire. Cash often would freedive into the depths and through the reefs to bring back a handful of pink sand to share with the visiting swimmers. In addition to these group swims, Coach Sue (Welker) kept everyone loose with her early morning Pilates on Grotto Beach. The afternoon and evenings were spent touring the islands many beaches, exquisite restaurants, and of course the socials at Swizzle Inn.

Beautiful weather continued right through event day as the swimmers were transported to their starting locations. The 10K course took the swimmers the entire distance around Harrington Sound and was won by Liz Dillman. Each distance offered had it share of competition and as conversations suggested friendship building at the check in points.
