Ron Turner Named Winston-Salem YMCA (WSY) Swimming Head Coach

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina, October 15. THE YMCA of Northwest North Carolina had selected Ron Turner as its new Director of Competitive Swimming for the Winston-Salem YMCA Swim Team.

Turner most recently left Irvine Novaquatics , as reported here, to attend to family health issues after coaching during portions of the 2006-07 season.

Previously, Turner spent time as the head coach of the YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA) from 2003-06. During his time at YOTA, Turner led his team to a combined 2006 YMCA National Championships and was named North Carolina Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2006.

Turner has also served as an assistant coach for the 2007 U.S. Pan-American Games Team, and earned 2006 YMCA National Coach of the Meet honors.

"We are excited to have gained a coach of Ron's stature and experience in the swimming community" said Associate Executive Director of the Central Family YMCA Richard Daniels. "We will look to Ron to carry on the long-standing tradition of excellence our club has become known for."
