USA Water Polo Announces Christine Bird as Director of Marketing and Communications

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, October 2. USA Water Polo has hired of Christine Bird, as its Director of Marketing and Communications.

Christine Bird has a combination of marketing and project planning expertise in world-class international sporting events, including most recently the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. Having worked for three Olympic Games (1996, 2004, 2006) and two FIFA World Cup organizations (1999, 2003), she is a supervisor skilled at integrating and guiding multiple client groups. As Marketing Director for the Bay Area's WUSA team, she developed the inaugural launch of the team's logo, name, ticketing plan and the league's most successful merchandise line. Her past sponsor relationships with US Soccer Federation and other events include working with top international companies such as Nike, Coca Cola, and Philips.

Bird was quoted as saying, "2008 will be a very busy year at USA Water Polo. We are working on creating a new brand image both for this important Olympic year as well as long term, as part of our sport identity and development goals. I look forward to being a part of these exciting changes in a growing sport, and I think the members of USAWP will enjoy all the new developments."
