Van Fleet to be Honored by Oakland University

ROCHESTER, Michigan, September 16. OAKLAND University will honor former coach Corey Van Fleet on Sept. 29 when it dedicates the Corey Van Fleet Hall of Swimming and Diving History during Alumni Weekend Festivities. Van Fleet, who arrived at Oakland in 1965, molded the program into a strong Division II squad and led the team to a second-place finish at the 1979 NCAA Championships. Van Fleet also served as Oakland's Athletic Director from 1972-82

"The tradition established by swimming and diving at OU is attributed to Corey," said Tracy Huth, the school's Interim Athletic Director. "The excellence the teams have sustained for decades can be traced to his passion for athletics and Oakland University that began in the 1960s. It will truly be an honor for us to have Corey and his wife, Mary, on campus for this event. I hope to see many alumni and friends here to enjoy this special day.
