Alexander Studzinski, Christina Krienke Win 25K Events at German Open Water Championships

GROSSKROTZENBURG, Germany, July 23. ALEXANDER Studzinski and Christina Krienke won their respective 25K races amongst sparse fields at the German Open Water Championships held on Grosskrotzenburg, Germany.

Studzinski beat training partner Christian Reichert for the 25K title with a time of 5:15:30.87, while Reichert stopped the clock in 5:20:33.90. Andreas Waschburger comprised the rest of the top three with a time of 5:35:13.15.

Krienke won in a field of three women that completed the course. She posted a 5:33:00.06 readout, while Annegret Braun placed second in 5:33:03.43. Franziska Jordan completed the field with a third-place 6:18:21.75.

July 24, 2007. You should not consider the German 25K a sparse field (it sounds insulting), but rather a typical field for a 25K. No one really wants to swim this marathon event, and few are capable of or trained to swim the 25K. In fact, most of the current USA registered open water swimmers, if put into a real ocean with actual currents and waves, would probably have a bad experience–look at the 2007 AU Worlds—Perhaps we are moving into extreme open water swimming verses "open water swimming for catch up pool swimmers"—calling the turn out space is negating the accomplishment of the accomplishment of these swimmers in just completing this race. There are some elder senior swimmers put there hauling innthe real open water. Consider it. Islandswims
