Third Night of Swimming Winds Down at St. Mary’s City Speedo Sectional

ST. MARY'S CITY, Maryland, July 21. THE third night of long course meter swimming came to a close at the St. Mary's City Speedo Sectional with titles awarded in the 200 fly, 100 back, 400 free and 800 freestyle relays.

Delaware Swim Team's Christy Williams cruised to the women's 200 fly title in 2:16.82, while Matt O'Brien had a much tougher time in the men's race. O'Brien touched out Peddie's Josh Charnin-Aker, 2:06.16 to 2:06.69, for the win.

Daphne Skelos of Long Island Aquatics picked up the women's 100 back crown in 1:04.34, while Louis Vayo clocked a 58.35 to top the men's two-lap back.

In the middle distance freestyle events, Liz Goldson of Long Island Aquatics hit the wall in 4:18.44 for the 400-meter win, while Darren Ankosko of the Scarlet Aquatic Club pocketed the men's 400 free in 4:03.04.

In the 800 freestyle relay swims, Long Island Aquatics' team of Emily Kelly, Erica Derlath, Skelos and Goldson won the women's race in 8:34.09, while the Scarlet Aquatic Club contingent of Ankosko, James Capparell, Austin Steel and Andrew King took home the men's crown in 7:49.80.
