Michael Phelps, Kara Lynn Joyce Enjoy Spotlight at ESPY Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, July 16. THIS past week, Michael Phelps and Kara Lynn Joyce enjoyed the festivities at the ESPY Awards, ESPN's annual award show that awards excellence in sports.

Phelps, who won seven gold medals and set five world records in March at the 2007 FINA World Championship, was nominated for both Best Record Breaking Performance and the Hummer Like Nothing Else Award.

Joyce, also a member of the 2007 U.S. World Championships Team, was a nominee for Best Female College Athlete. Joyce won the 50 and 100 yard free this year at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship and became the second swimmer ever to win four straight national titles in two events. She was also named NCAA National Swimmer of the Year for the second straight season and is second all-time in career victories with 18 national titles.

While neither swimmer walked away with an ESPY, it looks like they had a good time as evidenced by the accompanying picture.
