Two More Meet Records Tumble at Mt. Hood Sectional

MT. HOOD, Oregon, July 14. DURING the fifth and final day of long course meter competition at the Mt. Hood Sectional, two more meet records fell, this time in the disparate 50 and 1500 free events.

Ashley Evans, a 15-year-old representing Brophy East, demolished a record a decade older than her in the women's 1500 freestyle. Evans clocked a 16:48.99, which completely obliterated the 25-year-old standard of 17:04.15 set by Roxanne Carlton n July 1, 1982.

Meanwhile, Nathan Adrian of the Tacoma Swim Club nipped Ryk Neethling's 22.85 meet record set on March 1, 2004 with a winning time of 22.76 in the men's 50 freestyle.

In other action, Ariana Kukors of KING Aquatics easily won the women's 200 IM in 2:16.28, while teammate Megan Jendrick, typically a breaststroke specialist, touched out Marijana Surkovic of Issaquah Swim, 26.42 to 26.59, in the 50 free.

Jayhan Kim 17, of the Colorado Stars won another close battle that took place in the 200 IM. He clocked in at 2:08.72 to clip Masafumi Tojo of Brophy East, who finished second in 2:08.82.

Additionally, Corvallis' Logan Storie napped the men's 1500 free in 15:56.20.
