Three More Meet Records Downed at Mt. Hood Sectional

MT. HOOD, Oregon, July 13. DURING the fourth night of long course meter competition at the Mt. Hood Sectional three more meet records went by the wayside.

Ashley Evans, 15, of Brophy East got the ball rolling as three straight events featured meet records. Evans hit the wall in 4:14.51 in the 400 free to nip the 4:14.92 set by Lauren Thies 11 years ago on July 1, 1996.

Evans' teammate, Masafumi Tojo erased the men's 400 free meet record of 3:59.40 set by Jody Braden 15 years ago on July 1, 1992 when he ripped off a 3:57.61 in the event. Logan Storie of Corvallis also surpassed the meet record with a second-place 3:59.27.

Ending the meet-record skein, Megan Jendrick of KING Aquatics clocked a 1:08.13 in the 100 breast to erase the 1:08.65 set by Amanda Beard on March 1, 2004.

In other women's action, Ariana Kukors of KING Aquatics won the 100 back in 1:04.21, while Corvallis' Saori Haruguchi stopped the clock in 1:01.43 to claim the 100 fly title.
