Venezuela Claims Overall Title at CCCAN 2007

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, July 2. OVER the weekend, Venezuela topped all-comers at the Central American and Caribbean Confederation Championships, better known as CCCAN, held in San Salvador, El Salvador from June 25-30. Venezuela accumulated 1,498 points, while Mexico took second with 904 points and Puerto Rico finished third with 803.5 points at the long course meter competition.

In the final medal tally, Venezuela amassed 140 medals (44 gold, 46 silver and 50 bronze), while Mexico nabbed 64 (nine gold, 27 silver and 28 bronze). Puerto Rico took home 60 medals (29 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze), while Trinidad and Tobago showed off some high end talent with 17 gold medals for the third-largest total in the event.

Overall, nine meet records fell throughout the six-day meet. Here is a complete list of those records with the former record in parenthesis:
