Pair of Meet Records Fall at French National Championships

SAINT RAPHAEL, France, June 27. A pair of meet records fell during the fourth day of long course meter competition at the French National Championships held in Saint Raphael, France from June 24-28.

Laure Manaudou lowered her 200 free standard of 1:57.81 with a 1:57.48, while Elena Bogomazova clocked a 1:08.63 in the women's 100 breast to erase the 1:09.11 set by Kirsty Balfour of Britain in 2006.

Manaudou demonstrated that she is still feeling pretty strong as her winning time stood just two seconds off her world record of 1:55.52 set in Melbourne at the World Championships. Additionally, Bogomazova's time sat just half-a-second off her top time this year of 1:08.04 also at Worlds.

Other women's winners included Malia Metella in the 50 fly (27.38) and Camille Muffat in the 200 IM (2:14.87).

Meanwhile, in the men's side of the equation, Frederick Bousquet clocked a 23.95 to win the 50 fly, while Gregory Mallet took home the 200 freestyle in 1:49.73. Mallet had to hold on for dear life as Amaury Leveaux (1:49.81) and Benjamin Satsiulus (1:49.83) touched right behind him.

Also, Hugues Duboscq, the French record holder in the 100 breast at 1:00.05, won the event in 1:01.80, while Pierre Henri easily claimed the 200 IM in 2:02.92.
