Panama Olympic Committee Up for Suspension by IOC

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 20. THE Panama Olympic Committee (POC) is up for suspension by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from any sports competition according to an article in El Diario de Yaracuy.

Based primarily on in-fighting regarding the new leadership of the POC, since the IOC had already endorsed the presidency of Roger Moscote – the leader of the Panama Swimming Federation, the IOC is looking towards a suspension of the POC from competition.

The other side of the leadership fight came from the head of the Panama Judo Federation Miguel Vanegas. Vanegas sued to take over the POC and is currently in control of the organization.

Through his lawyer Franz Wever, Vanegas claims that he signed an agreement with Mario Vasquez Rana, the President of the Pan-American Sport Organization, to become the new director of the POC.
