Duquesne Announces New Signees

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania, May 10. DUQUESNE University announced the addition of nine more student-athletes for the 2007-08 season. Dan Doyle (N. Versailles, Pa./Serra Catholic), Darren Hill (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), Edward LeBlanc (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe), Greg Matuszewski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour), Jim O'Hara (Fountain Hills, Ariz./Brophy College Prep) and Matt Wollenschlaeger (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic) each have signed NLIs to attend next year. Also, Jason Abel, Yurko Honchar and Robert Talamo are committed to the Dukes.

Doyle comes to Duquesne as a two-time PIAA medalist and three-time WPIAL medalist. A varsity letterman, he holds his high school's records in the 50-yard freestyle, 100 free, 200 free, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley. In addition, he is a five-time qualifier for the YMCA Nationals.

Hill is a two-time state qualifier and four-time district qualifier. A team captain and four-year letterman he boasts top times of 54.77 in the 100 backstroke, 1:59.19 in the 200 back, 1:46.30 in the 200 free and 4:51.40 in the 500 free. In addition, he was a team captain and two-time Coaches Award recipient for the Trident Swim Club.

LeBlanc is an eight-time All-American and former state champion in the 100 backstroke and 400 free relay as well as a state runner-up in the 50 free. A 2007 team MVP, he was a four-time NCHSAA All-Conference honoree and a four-time All-Region and All-State choice. He was also a national qualifier in the 200-freestyle and two relays and was a junior national qualifier in eight events. His high school has won nine straight NCHSAA state championships.

Matuszewski is a three-time All-State choice and two-time team MVP. He was named All-State in the 100 butterfly as a junior and as a senior and was an All-State choice in the 100 back as a junior. In addition, he holds school records in the 200 free, 100 fly, 100 back, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

O'Hara is a four-time All-American, earning the honors in the 100 free and 200 free as a junior and as a senior. A two-time defending state champion in the 200-yard freestyle, he was also the state runner-up in the 100 free. A team co-captain, he also anchored the first place 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Wollenschlaeger joins the Dukes as a multiple school record holder. A team captain as a senior, he holds the Trinity Catholic records in the 200 free, 500 free, 100 fly and 100 back and helped his team win the district championship in 2006. He is also the record holder for the Central Florida Marlins in the 800 and 1,500 meter freestyles.
