USA Swimming Spring Championships Round Up Third Day of Action

EAST MEADOW, New York, March 29. USA Swimming's Spring Championships concluded its third day of action in East Meadow, N.Y. The competitors have two more days of competition left.

Women's 200 freestyle
Lauren Thies claimed another title, this time with a 1:59.81 in the 200 free. Katie Riefenstahl placed second in 2:01.70, while Allison Schmitt took third in 2:02.67.

Men's 200 freestyle
Matthew Owen walked away with the title in 1:50.41, while Darian Townsend (1:50.82) and Dale Rogers (1:50.97) completed the top three.

Women's 400 IM
Teresa Crippen won a nailbiter with a time of 4:46.18 over top of Kathleen Hersey's 4:46.22. Claire Crippen closed out the top three in 4:48.12.

Men's 400 IM
Robert Margalis touched first in 4:18.27, while Vanni Mangoni (4:20.65) and Scott Clary (4:25.58) picked up second and third, respectively.

Women's 800 freestyle relay
Germantown Academy's foursome of Lauren Sylvester (2:04.15), Katie Riefenstahl (2:03.18), Claire Crippen (2:04.46) and Teresa Crippen (2:03.58) easily won in 8:15.37.

Men's 800 freestyle relay
Mission Viejo's quartet of Fran Crippen (1:53.01), Chad La Tourette (1:55.56), Charlie Rimkus (1:56.51) and Jon Howard (1:55.95) stopped the clock in 7:41.03 for the win.
