By Brian Savard

GRESHAM, Oregon, February 27. FUTURE University of Florida swimmer Logan Storie, a Corvallis senior, went about business as usual at the Oregon 5A State High School Championships.

Storie took first in both individual events he swam. In the 200 freestyle, he recorded his second state title (1:39.98). The oldest record in Oregon swimming nearly fell as Storie finished the 500 freestyle in 4:27.41. Alex Stiles of Lincoln set that record back in 1984 (4:27.33).

Storie's talent helped drive the Corvallis 400 freestyle relay to a gold medal. Storie smoked the field leading off in a 46.47. Adding to the impressive relay swim, both his 50 split and his final 100 time would have won those respective individual events.

Daniel Worden, a Crescent Valley senior bound for the University of Hawaii, evenly split a 200 IM (1:57.70) and cruised to a nine-second victory. He added another victory in the 100 fly (52.55).

Alesha Trattner, a Glencoe junior, performed the sprint event sweep taking both the 50 (24.21) and the 100 (52.16) freestyle events. Her preliminary swim in the 50 freestyle and her 100 freestyle time in finals put her under the All-American consideration cut time.

Crescent Valley junior Mailene Leslie touched out Cleveland junior Whitney Dawson by .04 in the 200 freestyle clocking a 1:54.79. Leslie took the 500 freestyle in a more sizable margin with an All-American consideration time of 5:01.70.

The Crescent Valley relays reigned supreme. In the opening 200 medley relay, Crescent Valley (junior Caroline Wells, senior Rachel Lee, junior Sydney Boyce and junior Riley Tillery) started out fast off the backstroke leg and did not look back finishing with a time of 1:54.05. Summit nearly caught the Crescent Valley 200 freestyle relay (freshman Jordan Iverson, Lee, Wells and Leslie), however, the middle two swimmers Crescent Valley swimmers bested their counterparts en route to a 1:42.13 time. The 400 freestyle relay (Wells, Iverson, Boyce, Leslie) cut the theatrics and blew open the field aided by a 53.30 leadoff split by Wells (3:38.05).

Crescent Valley took home the Oregon 5A state title in the end for both the men and the women. Summit (49) scored one less point than the Crescent Valley men and took second while Corvallis (41) followed closely behind in third.

The Summit women (46) fell behind early and couldn't catch up to Crescent Valley while Corvallis (41) placed third.
