UC San Diego Men and Women Capture PCSC Titles

LONG BEACH, California, February 11. THE UC San Diego men's and women's swimming and diving teams each won Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference championships on Saturday night in Long Beach. The men's team scored a total of 1,449 points over the four day championship, with second place Cal Baptist scoring 1,224 points. Tim Fuller took top honors in the 100 free, while the 400 free relay team of Dan Perdew, Todd Langland, J.P. Oliver and Fuller raced to a time of 3:02.22. UCSD also recorded four, third-place finishes. The Triton women's team won the title with 1,159 points, with second-place LMU earning 1,049.5 points. Kendall Bohn captured first in the 200 breast, while the 400 free relay team of Susan Bell, Shannon Simonds, Aubrey Panis and Emily Harlan also took first. UCSD is back in action at the NCAA Championships on March 14-17 in Buffalo, New York.

On the men's side, in addition to the 400 free relay win and Fuller's win in the 100 (44.79), UCSD recorded four, third-place finishes. Steven Hardy took third in the 200 back at 1:53.64, Jake Dong in the 200 breast at 2:06.13, Jesse Marin in the 200 fly at 1:54.58 and Daniel Gordh in the three-meter board.

Bohn won the 200 breast in 2:18.70 and the 400 free relay team also won with a time of 3:27.86. Emily Harlan led a 2-3 finish in the 100 free with a time of 52.26 and Shannon Simonds came in at 52.50. Andrea Lippin notched a time of 17:32.46 in the 1650 and Jennifer Sims took second in the 200 fly in 2:04.91. Susan Bell finished third in the 200 back in 2:05.34.
