Jackson Sets British Short-Course Record in 800 Free

MIDDLESBROUGH, England, February 6. JO Jackson took down a British short-course record on Saturday when she covered the 800-meter freestyle in 8:15.50 during the Northumberland and Durham County Championships. Jackson was in heavy training, but still managed to duck under the previous mark of 8:16.68, set in 2001 by Rebecca Cooke. If Jackson can transfer her effort to the long-course spectrum, she should be a factor at next month's World Championships in Melbourne.

"It was a great swim by Jo," said coach Dave McNulty. "She had trained in the morning, had a short break and then was in again without a warm up. To set a new time like that, considering the training she's undergoing, is pretty impressive."
