SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Weekly Channel Recap: January 27, 2007

PHOENIX, Arizona, January 27. THIS past week on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com witnessed a roller-coaster ride. While good news came in the form of four collegiate programs (Bakersfield, Milligan, Ramapo and Tulane) being added to the existing pool of teams, both Ohio University and Butler University elected to cut their swimming programs as covered on the College channel

We also saw a pair of international swimmers make news on the World channel as no one knows just yet if China's Luo Xuejuan actually retired or not, and France's Esther Baron withstood an injury scare that might have pulled her out of Worlds in March. Ryk Neethling also checked in on the World channel as he moved his training camp to Tucson, Ariz., with Frank Busch, while Britta Steffen and Helge Meeuw earned Germany's Swimmer of the Year accolades. Meanwhile, ISHOF named its induction class of 2007.

Swimming World Magazine senior writer John Lohn, fresh off his honeymoon, took a look at action across the swimming spectrum in a pair of commentaries, while publisher/CEO Brent Rutemiller stayed busy on the Swimming World Radio front by interviewing three College Swimmers of the Week (Caroline Bruce, Jessica Connors, Roland Rudolf).

Additionally, Navy sophomore Kelly Zahalka gave our readers a brief look into the life of a collegiate swimmer at a service academy in her "A Day in the Life" series, while managing editor Jason Marsteller continued to span the divisions of collegiate swimming in the Meet of the Week program.
