Programs Coming to Ramapo and Milligan

RAMAPO, New Jersey, January 26. RAMAPO College (N.J.) and Milligan College (Tenn.) have announced they'll be adding swimming programs. The news is a positive development during a time in which numerous schools have decided to get rid of swimming. The latest school to eliminate a program is Ohio University.

Competing at the club level this season and next year, Ramapo will begin competition in the Division III ranks in 2008-09. The school has named Gary Orr as the head coach. Orr will be assisted by Skip Storch, Ginny Allard and Donna Tarzian. Ramapo had swimming 20 years ago and Orr is an alum of the school, having graduate in 1983.

As for Milligan College, it will begin action next year under the guidance of Ron Goehring. Milligan sponsored swimming as a club sport from 1977-1986 and will be competing in the NAIA. Goehring was a successful high school coach at Science Hill and Dobyns-Bennett.
