Well, I'm halfway through a very hectic first week back at school! My classes today were extremely overwhelming with all of the work that comes along with the professional semester (the semester before student teaching). I am definitely going to be busy this semester with my course load and swimming. After having class from 8 a.m., to 3:15 p.m., I headed off to practice for two hours. Our practice today was a challenge, because we had to focus on coming back after yesterday's sprint practice to really push today's sets. Our practice today was:

Warm Up
200 swim, 200 kick, 200 pull, 100 swim, 100 kick, 100 pull, 100 swim

Set 1
6 x 100 all out hard kick with fins on 1:40
12 x 50 all out hard kick without fins on 1:30

Set 2
4 x (3 x 150) all out swim
free on 2:30
stroke on 3:00

after each round of three there was an easy 50 on a minute to recover. My group alternated free/stroke by 150 throughout the entire set.

Set 3
4 x (3 x 75) all out swim
free on 1:20
stroke on 1:30

after each round of three there was an easy 25 on a minute to recover. My group alternated free/stroke by 75 throughout the entire set.

Warm Down

5 x 100 on the 1:45

As the Division II National meet gets closer, those of us who have made it are becoming more and more excited. There is still a really good chance that our team can get a few more men and women to the meet. The Division II National meet is really neat because it is a four-day meet instead of just three days, and it is men and women together. I really like this because it allows our teams to cheer each other on and support each other in our swims.

Unfortunately, it is time for me to hit the books! Can you believe it? Only the second day of the semester and there is work to be done already and with dryland in the morning, getting to bed early is the key! I've also decided that this semester I will try to be better with procrastination when it comes to doing school work. We'll see how that works out!

Go Ship!

Jill
