RILEY JANES QUALIFIES FIRST IN 100 BACK

Texas A&M sophomore Riley Janes qualified first in the 100 back with a
52.22. The next fastest time – 52.35 – was posted by Southern Cal sophomore
Leonardo Costa in a swim-off with Stanford freshman Randall Bal. Bal's
swim-off time of 52.39 was also faster than second qualifier Tom Hannan's
52.54.
Alex Massura (Minnesota) qualified third in 52.58, Bart Kizierowski
(Cal) fourth in 52.66, Matt Ulrickson (Texas) fifth in 52.67, Matt Allen
(Arizona) sixth in 52.68 and Michael Gilliam (Tennessee) seventh in 52.72.
B finalists are Bal, Marc Lindsay (Georgia), Matthew Macedo (Cal),
Pablo Abal (Arizona State), Todd Smolinski (Minnesota), Dan Westcott
(Stanford), Brian Rogers (Iowa State) and Braden Holloway (North Carolina
State).
