Loyola Teams Defeat Howard, Fall to Rider

BALTIMORE, Maryland, January 13. THE Loyola's swimming and diving teams split dual-meet action with Rider and Howard on Saturday afternoon at the Mangione Aquatic Center. The men defeated Howard, 217-51, and dropped a tight 163-133 decision to Rider. The women, meanwhile, defeated Howard, 223-58, and fell to the Broncs, 179-121.

"Coming off our difficult week of training in Florida, I was extremely pleased with the way both teams competed today," says Loyola Head Coach Brian Loeffler. "With less than four weeks until the MAAC Championships, the team is on track to peak and hit their taper."

Senior Ryan Reeser led the men with three individual first-place finishes in the freestyle events. Reeser's first win of the day came in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 9:54.98. Reeser also teamed up with younger brother Brad Reeser, Drew Crampton and Paul Ebert to win the 200-yard freestyle relay. The foursome captured the event in 3:13.97. Crampton and Brad Reeser also did well in the sprint freestyle events. Crampton won the 50 Free (22.01), just ahead of Reeser, who finished second in 22.05. In the 100 Free, the margin separating Crampton and Reeser was even smaller. Brad Reeser won the event in 48.74, edging out Crampton, who placed second in 48.75.

Hadley's time in the 1,000 Free was 10:47.30, while her winning time in the 500 Free was 5:16.71. Clare Ostrom placed second in the 500 Free in 5:31.20.
