USC Victorious at Last Home Meet

LOS ANGELES, California, January 6. The No. 6 USC men's swimming team completed its home season with a 141-118 non-conference victory over UC Santa Barbara as Trojan seniors competed at McDonald's Swim Stadium for a final time on a brisk Saturday (Jan. 6) afternoon.

Troy improved to 5-0. The Gauchos dropped to 2-4.

At a school with a storied distance swimming tradition, senior Larsen Jensen might be the greatest and he finished his home career with wins in the 500y (4:34.81) and 1,000y free (9:16.83), very easy-going swims by his standards.

Fellow senior Joon Youm won the 100y breast (57.41), senior Gergely Meszaros won the 100y free (46.53) and senior Viktor Bodrogi won the 100y back (1:48.84), each posting victories in their final home meet. Meszaros also took second in the 200y free (1:41.58).

USC's Bodrogi, senior Mihaly Flaskay, senior Sam Masson and junior Richard Gosper won the 200y medley relay in 1:32.57.

Sophomore Kazu Miyahara won the 200y breast (2:06.21) as teammates junior Greg Barone (2:06.64), freshman Tyler Schlenker (2:07.55) and Youm (2:07.69) followed behind in order.

Gosper, USC's fastest 50y free swimmer this season, won the event Saturday in 20.40 with senior Sean Sussex right behind him (20.57). Freshman Shane Tusup took second in the 100y back in 53.01.

USC is next in action when it completes its dual meet season at California on Jan. 26 and at Stanford on Jan. 27. Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
