Hoff Downs Another National Age Group Record in Second Day of NBAC Christmas Meet

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, December 16. IN the second day of competition at the NBAC Christmas Invitational held from Dec. 15-17, Katie Hoff took down the longest standing 17-18 short course yard national age group record in the U.S. – if live results can be believed.

In other notable action, Elizabeth Pelton surpassed the NAG in the 13-14 100 backstroke.

Women's 400 IM
Another day, another 17-18 national age group record for Katie Hoff. This time, Hoff touched in 4:02.58 to cut two seconds off the longest-standing 17-18 record on the books. The performance eclipsed the 4:04.63 clocked by Tracy Caulkins in 1981. Hoff nearly broke the American record of 4:02.28 set by Summer Sanders on March 20, 1992.

Courtney Kalisz finished in second in 4:16.49, while Caitlin Perks took third in 4:29.39. In the 13-14 age group, Felicia Lee hit the wall in 4:16.04.

Men's 400 IM
Austin Surhoff won the men's 400 IM in 4:00.46, while Richard Hills took second in 4:01.87. Brennan Morris placed third in 4:02.12.

Women's 50 Freestyle
Hannah Davis took home gold in the sprint free with a time of 23.73, while Caitlin Perks took second in 23.87. Meredith Cavalier finished third in 24.02.

Men's 50 Freestyle
Joel Cross grabbed the winning time in 20.95, while Dan Madwed placed second in 21.17. Vlas Lezin and Dwight Richardson dead-heated for third with matching 22.07s.

Women's 200 Breaststroke
Paige Boyer touched first in the 200 breast in 2:22.40, while Maggie White turned in a second-place time of 2:23.43. Meaghan Holloway rounded out the top three in 2:25.29.

Men's 200 Breaststroke
Joel Cross continued his solid day by doubling up in his second straight event. He won the 200 breast in 2:02.50, while Richard Hills took second in 2:04.89. Nevin Cook picked up bronze in 2:06.48.

Women's 100 Backstroke
Courtney Kalisz won the 100 back in 57.08, while Hannah Davis finished second in 57.72. Meredith Cavalier earned third in 57.98.

Notably in the 13-14 division, Elizabeth Pelton lowered the national age group standard by winning in 54.41. That time nipped the 54.54 posted by Mary Beck earlier this year.

Men's 100 Backstroke
Vlas Lezin broke through with a win in the 100 back by touching in 51.96. Greg Pelton finished second in 52.35, while Josh Graham took third right behind in 52.36.

Women's 500 Freestyle
Katie Hoff claimed another title, this time in the middle-distance free in 4:36.11. Meanwhile, Maggie Brown finished second in 5:00.07, barely nipping Emily Tipton's second-place 5:00.08.

Men's 500 Freestyle
Dan Madwed cruised to an easy win in the 500 free with a time of 4:26.46. Meanwhile, Ian Rowe took second in 4:30.49, while Brennan Morris placed third in 4:40.43.
