ACC Names Athletes of the Week

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, December 5. THREE student-athletes highlight the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week, as Virginia's John Millen and Florida State's Billy Jamerson are the first duo this season to share the men's weekly award, while FSU's Lauren Brick notches her second women's accolade.

Millen, who earns his second league honor this year, helped the Cavaliers claim the Big Al Invitational held at Princeton University over the weekend. Virginia topped a field of eight teams, which included nationally-ranked Tennessee. The Lilburn, Ga., product won the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle events at the meet, posting NCAA "B" times in the 500 and 1650. He also swam on UVa's 800 freestyle relay team that recorded an NCAA "B" mark of 6:37.03.

A native of Savannah, Ga., Jamerson notched a pair of gold in two individual events as the 16th-ranked Seminole men defeated No. 10 Florida last week. He won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, clocking NCAA "B" times of 54.58 and 1:59.22, respectively. Marks in both events currently rank second in the league. Jamerson was also part of the 200 medley relay that captured first place with a 1:29.78 time.

Brick collected a trio of first-place finishes, as the 13th-ranked Seminole women upended No. 6 Florida for the first time in school history on November 21. She recorded her second NCAA "A" cut time in the 100 breaststroke this season with a winning time of 1:01.82. The Culpeper, Va., native later took gold in the 200 breaststroke, swimming a league-best and NCAA "B" time of 2:15.81. She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay squad that turned in an NCAA "B" time of 1:40.37, which currently ranks at the top of the conference this season.
