Cal Poly Invite Finishes Up

SAN LUIS OBISPO, California, December 2. THE Cal Poly women's swimming and diving team finished up the final day of competition on Saturday at the Cal Poly Invitational. The Mustangs earned a win against University of San Diego (124-119), but were defeated by Nevada (191-51) and Loyola Marymount University (154-83).

Junior Stacey Sorensen's first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.18) helped the Mustangs edge the Toreros in what proved to be a close competition. The two teams were neck and neck most of the day and had to wait for diving results (which were held off-site) to determine a winner.

Senior McKenna Long recorded her highest marks all season in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Long earned a score of 201.37 in the one-meter and a 225.90 in the three-meter. She placed fourth in both events.

Sophomore Alyssa Rogers also swam her season best in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing fourth in the event with a time of 1:09.03.
