UCLA Women’s Water Polo Signs Large Class

LOS ANGELES, California, December 1. COACH Adam Krikorian announced the signing of eight new recruits to the Women's Water Polo team this week.

"This is a very deep and talented class that will continue the tradition of excellence that has been established here at UCLA."

Kelly Easterday, the co-player of the year in Division IV at Santa Barbara High School, is a 2-time All CIF selection and a 1st team All-American. She has led her high school to the CIF Championship for three consecutive years. Kelly was invited to play in the USA Water Polo's Top 40 Festival, which includes the 40 best water polo players in the country. She was also a member of the National Youth team that took home the gold medal from the Junior Pan-American Games held in Montreal, Canada, last summer.

Monica Powers is a Utility player from Cardonelet High School in Clayton, CA. She has been named the Blossom Valley Athletic League MVP for the last four years in a row, leading her team to the NCS Championship Game for the first time since 1996. She was named a 3rd team All American.

Priscilla Orozco is a Driver out of Montebello High School in Commerce, CA. She was the Captain of the National Youth Team that won the gold medal at the Junior Pan-American Games and a 3-time Junior Olympic All-American. Priscilla was also invited to participate in USA Water Polo's Top 40 Festival, and was the MVP of the Speedo Top 40 Open Tournament in 2004. She has been selected to the 1st team of CIF Division 1 in Southern California for three consecutive years.

Noel Umphrey also was another member of the National Youth team that took home the gold medal from the Junior Pan American Games last summer. Umphrey is a left-handed Driver from Foothill High School in Santa Ana, Ca. She was selected to the third team of CIF Division 1.

Kelsey McGinley is a Driver from Laguna Hills High School in Laguna Hills, CA. She was a second team CIF Division 1 selection as well as a member of the National Youth Team Training Squad. Last year she recorded 88 goals and 82 steals in 24 games for Laguna Hills HS.

Megan Burmeister is a Utility player out of Menlo High School in Menlo Park, CA. She was named the Peninsula Athletic League MVP and is an All Central Coast Section selection. Megan led her team to this year's CIF Championship and was also a member of the National Youth Team Training Squad.

Cameo Sullivan is a teammate of Megan Burmeister's at Menlo High School. She helped lead her team to this year's CIF Championship. Cameo is a 4th team All-American and is a 1st team All-Peniscula Athletic League Selection.

Morgan Ronimus is one of the top goalkeepers in the country. She plays at Coronado High School in Coronado, CA. She is a 2nd team All-CIF selection and is also a member of the National Youth Team Training Squad.

"Each one of these student-athletes will represent our program and university with a strong character and an unselfish attitude…I'm anxious to get the opportunity to coach each one of them," said Krikorian.
