Lochte Caps Bell Grand Prix in Style

TORONTO, Ontario, November 27. RYAN Lochte wrapped up his three-day exhibition at the Bell Grand Prix with a pair of victories on Sunday night. Raising his win total to six for the competition, Lochte took top honors in the 100 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Claiming the 100 I.M. in 54.27, Lochte capped his effort at the meet with a triumph in the 100 backstroke. The world-record holder in the event with a time of 49.99, Lochte managed an effort of 52.54. This week, Lochte is expected to compete at the U.S. Open.

In other action, Canadian Brent Hayden added to his titles with a verdict in the 200 free. After setting national records in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, Hayden won the 200 free in 1:45.19, ahead of the 1:46.76 produced by Brian Johns. Meanwhile, Ryan Cochrane prevailed in the 1,500 free in 15:11.67.

Among the women, Brittany Reimer, Canada's premier female performer, earned gold in the 800 free with a showing of 8:24.98. Other winners included Erica Morningstar in the 100 I.M. (1:02.20) and Mackenzie Dowling in the 200 butterfly (2:09.92).
