Industry News: Carrera Hired at TruWest

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, November 24. STEVE Carrera is the newest member of the TruWest Team. Steve brings his insights into TruWest as an insider of the lifestyle because of his coaching and playing experience.

Steve grew up in Irvine, Calif., swimming for the Irvine Novaquatics. He than began playing water polo in high school where he received All-League and All-CIF honors. He went on to play in college first at Saddleback and than at Queens College in New York. During Steve's tenure at Queens College, the Knights were ranked in the top 10 in the country finishing second in 1998 in the Eastern Championships. Steve then was selected to the Eastern Zone National Team, to compete in the inaugural premier league championships in the spring of 2000.

After Steve received his degree in Media, he moved back to California where he immediately became the head coach of Northwood High School in 2000. In only the Timberwolves second year as a varsity program, Steve led Northwood to its first Division I playoff berth. Northwood is now established as a top tier water polo program known throughout the United States reaching the top 6 in Orange County rankings each of the last 3 years.

Steve continues to improve the conditions and opportunities for United States Water Polo. He is the President of the North Irvine Age Group Water Polo club, a non-profit organization. He is host to fifteen youth tournaments every year and has hosted events for USA Water Polo and other National Teams from around the world. He is a member of the Irvine Aquatics Board helping bring the sport of water polo to the community of Irvine and Orange County.

Steve currently lives in Irvine with his fiancé. He is the President of the North Irvine Age Group Water Polo club, a non-profit organization.
